Medical Dental Trek 2019 Fall

HHC Fall 2018 Trek

Physicians, dentists, nurses, physician assistants and mental health workers, as well as teachers, veterinarians, agricultural technicians and other volunteers--including family members--are invited to join this two-week trek in a remote region of the Himalayas to support and train local health providers to help them treat hundreds of villagers who have little to no access to regular health care.Participants will be asked to arrive in Kathmandu no later than Sep 17th and depart no sooner than Oct 3rd, allowing ample time to adjust to the altitude and any potential changes to the trek itinerary. Trekkers will be supported by a team of medical and trek staff, including porters. Medical work will be empirical at best with little diagnostic support. The highest point on the trek will be approximately 14,000 feet, and trekkers will see some of the beautiful Himalayan peaks of Nepal. As tents, luggage and other materials will be portered in, all you will need to carry with you is a day pack. The trek fee is $3,300 and does not include airfare to and from Nepal or hotel stay in Kathmandu. To apply, please submit an online application by clicking here. Applications will be considered on a first-come-first-served basis and we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. If you have questions concerning the application, please contact Anil Parajuli at or Soni Parajuli at can also find more information on the trek if you click here. We look forward to seeing you in Nepal!

All net proceeds from the handicraft sales are used to fund primary health care, medical and educational projects, giving to those involved in the production process a sense of pride that comes by helping and sustaining many others, in even greater need than themselves.
