29 Sep to 15 Oct (Kathmandu to Kathmandu)
HHC had a successful medical training camp in the Ruby Valley Rural Municipality in the remote and road-less northern region of Dhading District of central Nepal. Ten local health providers were provided life-saving training by visiting international doctors over four days of work while 417 patients were served and forty were referred to bigger center in Kathmandu. HHC was joined by seven American and one Canadian doctor from Sep 29th to October 15th to carry out medical trek camps in the villages of Sertung and Lapa where they worked side by side with the loca health providers as they imparted vital knowledge and also earned from their local partners. The mountain views, the millet fields and fall flowers and colors right after the monsoon made the trek spectacular.HHC is most grateful to Drs. Sarah Cassel (family medicine), Pia Daniel (ER), Olayinka Edwards (family medicine), Karren Leishman (family medicine), Rachel Martin (family medicine), Jessica Paulson (ER) and HHC board of directors Ashika Jain and Robert McKersie for their time and service to the people of northern Dhading. HHC also wants to thank Sushma Dong the lab tech, Tshering Sherpa, Nima Sherpa, Rim Ake Magar and the entire kitchen support as well as the staff of HHC especially Kul Mani, Phe Dorji, Bishnu Karki, Mashav KC and Bin Thapa. Soni KC the HHC chairperson in Nepal with support from Rajan, Nabin and Shrawan helped with full logistics and documentation of the trek. The trek team was led by Anil and oer 23 porters and equal number of mules were used to facilitate the 12 day trek. We may consider another trek as a lot of enquiries are coming HHC’s way!
